Trevorsomething - Trevor Something Does Not Exist Synthwave Album

An amazing, amazing synthwave album by "Trevorsomething" titled "Trevor Somethign Does Not Exist".

In particular, a mashup/cover/original track called "Come back down", which mixes the beat and samples from New Order - Blue Monday with Animotion - Obsession phenomenally well. There's even some aspects of Gary Numan - Cars thrown in there for good measure.

I can't recommend this guys work enough. The full album is also available for FREE download on his BandCamp.

Track 3 contains a sample and interpolation of "Blue Monday" by New Order. Also contains samples from "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League, "Cars" by Gary Numan, "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell, "Da Da Da" by Trio, and "Close To The Edit" by Art of Noise. Track 6 is a remix of "The Inner Voice" by DJ Ten. Track 8 is a remix of "So Far Away" by Lazerhawk. Track 9 is a remix of "Hyperlips" by Com Truise. Track 10 is a remix of "Genesis" by Grimes. Track 12 is a remix of "Miami" by Jasper Byrne. Track 15 contains a sample from "What I Like About You" by The Romantics. Track 16 is a cover of "Enjoy The Silence" by Depeche Mode.

Pearl White - White EP

This came across my SoundCloud dashboard this morning, and it's wonderful.

Pearl White difficult to peg what genre it is, and it's all the better for it. I'm hearing some elements of trance, trap, and various other electronic dance genres - but it also has some pitch-shifted vocals and spooky synth happening (mixed with urban-dance vocals? ok!) that remind me of Purity Ring, or random Witchouse bands--minus the "triple-clap" sound.

The general vibe is a multi-genre, futuristic distopian background music. Some of that might come from how the EP is mixed together into a single set:

Support the artist by buying the EP (no minimum price, currently) via Bandcamp.

Another album with a similar vibe (but far more ambient-dance) was reposted on the Pearl White SoundCloud called Heavy Hearts - Archaic.

Wastelands by Protector 101

Sounding like the forgotten soundtrack to an '80s Post-Apocalyptic, Mad Max-esk film, "Wastelands" is a great soundtrack-style album by Protector 101 - Released through the consistently awesome Telefutures label.

Memorex : Video Remix of your memories

Came across this through Boing-Boing.net:   Memorex from Smash TV.

The music is a mix of vintage audio, expertly mixed with modern retrowave/synthwave/chillwave tracks, with found footage from the 1980s/1990s edited to match.

"The audio provides a perfect accompaniment to the warped and weirdly nostalgic footage, like finding your favorite cassette from childhood after it’s been baking in the sun for 25 years. An authentic audio/visual package, Memorex was designed to look and feel like the real deal. The ultimate VHS tape.
Is it a lost cultural relic, melted to the dash of an '83 Nissan Sentra? Is it a sinister government experiment, designed to brainwash children into becoming consumer slaves?
Is it the pinnacle of blipverts, sent back in time from 20 minutes into the future? Is it the holy grail of unlabeled VHS tapes, tucked away in the back room of an abandoned Blockbuster?
Is it live, or is it Memorex?
We didn't create your childhood, we just organized it for you. How to brainwash an entire generation. OBEY. CONSUME. THIS IS YOUR GOD.
"

Watching this super-cut presentation pop culture detritus, and knowing that it (subliminally) structured my childhood causes both nostalgia and horror.

Memory Tapes: Walk Me Home 1 & 2

Thanks to the magic of Soundcloud's notification system, I received word today of a new mixed set by Dayve Hawk of Memory Tapes. One of the first artists I actively followed online (from his time with Hail Social, to Weird / Memory Tapes) - he consistently creates excellent music. The Walk Me Home mixes in particular have a vintage, spooky vibe to them.

Also,  Memory Tapes "Walk Me Home" mix [free download link], was created originally for the excellent ARAWA.fm back in 2009.
